Encepta's Commitment to Gender Equity

Equity isn't an initiative — it’s our responsibility. Every step we take to foster inclusion strengthens our company, and the industry as a whole.
Devan Bouchard, President and CEO at Encepta.

At Encepta, gender equity isn’t just a conversation; it’s our commitment to action. As a company that thrives on innovation, we know that true progress comes from diverse perspectives, inclusive workplaces, and equal opportunities for growth.

While strides have been made, the technology industry still remains a difficult space for women. Our commitment is to actively change that narrative.

Read on to learn more about how we are doing our part to drive meaningful change.

Driving Change: Our commitment to Gender Equity

International Women’s Day is more than a celebration. It is a movement for change. It reminds us to reflect on the progress made toward gender equity, acknowledge the challenges that remain, and recognize the invaluable contributions of women in every industry.

The Reality of Women in Tech: Progress & Challenges

The unfortunate reality is that gender representation in the technology sector has seen only modest improvement over the past two decades.

Here are some key insights:

  • Women represent 24% of Canada's tech workforce (Globe & Mail, 2023).
  • Companies with diverse leadership teams outperform their competitors by 25% (McKinsey, 2023).
  • Yet only 9% of executive and senior management roles in tech are held by women (ICTC, 2024).

The numbers are clear: The technology industry remains far from equitable, and the majority of companies are limiting their own potential by failing to tap into the full spectrum of talent.

Taking Action: How Encepta is Closing the Gender Gap

At Encepta, we do more than talk about change. We take action. Here's where we stand today:

  • 25% of our C-Suite executives are women, compared to the industry average of 9%.
  • 33% of our directors are women, reinforcing the importance of diverse leadership.
  • Women at Encepta are represented across all levels and functions, including Field Services, Design, Project Management, Finance, People & Culture, and Leadership.

But representation alone isn’t enough. What truly matters is that women at Encepta have equitable opportunities to grow, lead, and build fulfilling careers in tech.

The Women of Encepta Inspire me everyday. Your contributions make this organization stronger, more vibrant, and more successful. Thank you for everything you do.
Devan Bouchard, President and CEO at Encepta.

Making an Impact: How We Celebrated International Women's Day

This year, we focused on learning, celebrating, and strengthening our commitment to gender equity through meaningful initiatives:

Olga Stevens
  • Internal Podcast Featuring Olga Stevens: Encepta's CFO, Olga Stevens discussed her approach to financial leadership, personal philosophy, and how she thrives in a dynamic business landscape.
Zoe Mitchell
  • Lunch & Learn with Zoe Mitchell: In partnership with BDI Group, we hosted a session featuring Zoe Mitchell, President of Durwest Construction Management, who shares insights from her leadership journey, career choices, and experiences overcoming challenges in male-dominated industries.
  • Supporting SHE-ENC: We continue to foster our SHE-ENC network, an internal space where the women of Encepta connect, learn from each other, and share experiences.

These moments weren’t just about celebrating International Women’s Day — they were about reinforcing our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where every individual has the support they need to succeed.

A Leadership Perspective on Gender Equity

Leadership plays a critical role in shaping equity. Our President and CEO, Devan Bouchard, is a firm advocate for diversity, inclusion, an opportunity.

I've seen firsthand the strength, resilience, and impact that women have in shaping our world. As a leader and a father of two young daughters, I cannot stress enough the importance of the role each of us must play in creating a more just and inclusive world.
Devan Bouchard, President and CEO at Encepta

Devan's leadership reinforces our mission to build a workplace where respect, equity, and opportunity are the foundation for innovation and success.
